Research abstract

The Phase II Program will extend interface-element technologies to allow durability analysis of composite structures subject to interlaminar fracture and fatigue. The new analytical technology will be implemented in a commercial finite-element analyzer, and will be employed by program participants to model test-coupon, demonstration subcomponent and validation component structures. The products of this activity will include a commercially available finite-element implementing the validated composite delamination durability model, and an industrial fatigue analysis methodology codifying application of the new durability model in context with other fracture mechanics and structural analysis methods for structural durability verification.
