Research abstract

During SBIR Phase I, Cryptek explored several US Army programs that may benefit from the enhanced access controls within a Pervasive Computing (PvC) environment and conducted software engineering designs to integrate the Cryptek DiamondTEK product with IBM’s Websphere Everywhere Connection Manager (WECM). Specifically, Cryptek has reviewed the Future Tactical Truck System (FTTS) program objectives in the Maneuver Sustainment Vehicle (MSV) and the Utility Vehicle. Many of the secure Mobile PvC architecture elements align with the desired capabilities documents posted on the TACOM website. During Phase II, Cryptek will conduct engineering research to develop the Virtual Data Labeling Middleware Protocol proxy that will enable integration of COTS applications into a community of interest (COI) pervasive computing environment. The middleware proxy component, VDL-XML, will support client/server and web portal access where internal data exchange protocols are XML based. Cryptek will integrate its patented virtual labeling technology and EAL4 secure network system with XML standard tagging mechanisms to enable dynamic information flow in coalition environments. Cryptek will provide a centralized policy decision manager that can dynamically update the virtual labeling rule sets of each integrated device to allow information to be shared with communities of interest.
