Research abstract

The objective of the proposed work is to develop and demonstrate a thermally compliant High Temperature (250 Deg. C) Generic Electronic Module (GEM) for the control of representative jet engine or aircraft actuator in a laboratory environment. In order to avoid the cost of developing a family of custom modules for interfacing with each type of actuator and sensor, our concept involves a generic module that can be reconfigured to interface with a large class of actuators and sensors using the available families of High Temperature electronic components. The proposed work will also assess the Technology Readiness Level of the GEM Module and estimate the development cost, risk, reliability and physical attributes of a GEM Multi Chip Module (MCM) configuration.
