Research abstract

Data Fusion Corporation and Lockheed Martin Space Systems propose the development of a SAR and GMTI simulator package using coded waveforms. Such a simulation tool would be essential in developing the processing routines necessary to incorporate the coded waveform into radar. The package will simulate the image formation process of a SAR. In addition, it will be used to simulate the GMTI operating mode of the radar. An analysis tool will also be created. This tool will be used to optimize the operating performance of a coded-waveform radar for both SAR and GMTI applications. Attention will be focused on simulating and optimizing antenna beam patterns, pulsing schemes, Doppler and range acquisition, power requirements, and image formation. In addition, interference mitigation and high resolution imagery algorithms will be developed while computational load will be minimized.
