Research abstract

The development of a Single Crystal Silicon (SCSi) Telescope will provide end users with an optic that performs with stability in hostile environments, is producible, and cost-efficient. Our Phase I data demonstrated SCSi’s attractive properties and McCarter’s innovative approach to manufacturing, which together provide a promising indication for the rapid deployment of SCSi telescopes and components. A Phase II will give McCarter the opportunity to evaluate the ability of SCSi to serve as the standard material for telescopes.
