Research abstract
Upstate Applied Research proposes a technology which enables an accurate, meaningful and semantically correct sharing of information among existing command and control systems. A two-part information discovery technique, encompassing pre-execution analysis and in-progress refinement, is used to identify and mark up semantically meaningful information which will be shared among automated AOC systems and human decision-makers. In addition, an accurate, efficient data exchange mechanism is used to provide the information transport. This implementation of C2 information exchange provides both an immediate and a long-term benefit. In the near term, a timely exchange of critical C2 data provides the commander with high-quality decision information in real time. In the longer term, the tools and techniques proposed here have the potential to provide an unprecedented degree of machine interoperability without the need for major systems re-engineering.
