Research abstract

In Phase I, Saraswati demonstrated feasibility of a multiple beam 100% true time delay beamformer for an on-board satellite Threat Warning System. The beamformer was be designed to be integrated with a Sampler photonic antenna. When the development is fully completed, the final product will be able to detect threat signals over a 90 degree field of regard with zero dead time over the entire field. In Phase II, Saraswati will develop a prototype version of the beamformer with 5 simultanoeus beam capability demonstrating operation over multiple octaves of bandwidth. The prototype will then be integrated with a Sampler phased array antenna and characterized in an antenna range facility.
