Research abstract

LIKETO (Logistics Infrastructure Knowledge from Engineered Transport Optimization) is a collaboration between Geneva Technologies Inc. (GTI) and the University of Central Florida (UCF). LIKETO aims to establish methodologies and assess the feasibility of achieving Initial Operating Capability (IOC) for rocket cargo within the USSF. This Phase I STTR project, under the DoD STTR 25.A, program for the MOVE_IT solicitation, focuses on preparing the USSF for rapid, large-scale aid transport using commercial rockets, primarily by significantly reducing response times in disaster relief scenarios. The project is primarily focused on the logistics from “request” through launch, and only minimally focused on reentry trajectories where they impact the front-end logistics workflow and launch timelines.UCF will leverage its expertise in logistics and supply chain optimization to develop a comprehensive framework for cargo transport using Discrete-Event Simulation (DES) and other techniques. This framework will encompass transportation, handling, storage, and inventory management. The project will also explore the use of AI and ML to enhance operational efficiency. GTI will contribute its expertise in spacecraft and hosted payload hardware, utilizing its heritage designs in command and data handling, battery power management, and communication interfaces.LIKETO will culminate in a detailed feasibility analysis and the development of a digital twin software platform for rocket cargo logistics. This platform will provide a simulated environment for mission planning and risk assessment and will be customizable with a GIS data repository.
