Research abstract

The integration and use of technology to control and operate various systems has proliferated throughout the world. However, this technology, which is comprised of semiconductor devices such as transistors, is extremely vulnerable to high power electromagnetic radiation. Although such technological systems are vulnerable to conventional armaments such as high explosives and phosphorous munitions when in the open area, they can be easily protected by means of armor or overhead protection. These barriers to conventional weapons are not necessarily barriers to electromagnetic radiation. HEM Technologies has successfully constructed and tested two multi-pulse systems to acts as electromagnetic radiation power source capable of producing a short high voltage pulse train for 40mm to 155 mm rocket and missile platforms such as 2.75 in rockets and Hellfire. We propose to develop the critical technology identified for the systems into products. This will be accomplished through the following objectives. 1. Construct a multipulse ferroelectric generator module capable of generating at least two pulses of greater than 100 kV each. 2. Construct an explosive wire array generator for an FCG, FMG, or capacitor prime power source capable of producing multiple pulses of > 50 kV each into a high impedance load.
