Research abstract

An innovative program to develop high efficiency (>40%) MMIC power amplifiers at both Ka-Band and Q-Band for Phased Array applications. The power output for the Ka-Band is 2watts while the power output for the Q-Band amplifier is 1.5watts. A primary objective of the program is to produce these amplifiers at a very low cost in production that will make phased array systems more affordable. A key component is the use of MHEMT techology for the amplifier. The amplifiers that will be developed and tested on this program will undego on-wafer probe testing as well as RF and environmental tests in a waveguide package.
