Research abstract
Sarcos Research Corporation proposes the development of signal and data processing system for the MRMC-developed acoustic wound detector (WD) for soldiers. The data interpretation system will be capable of detecting the impact and the location of the wound and will become an integral part of a physiological monitoring system in the next generation warfighter platform. The proposed novel method of ballistic impact detection will enable an ultra-low-power, very short latency wounding detection, as well as wound location determination system. Phase 1 of the project will focus on demonstrating the feasibility of the proposed approach using a full set of available experimental data, as well as a computer based-simulation of the proposed sensor design. As the result of Phase 1 effort, initial engineering design of the proposed system will be completed. Phase 2 of the project will accomplish the full system design, prototyping, integration with the MRMC acoustic WD sensor, and testing by the Sponsor. At the conclusion of the project, the WD system will be ready for field testing and manufacturing.
