Research abstract

Applied Visions, Inc. (AVI) is pleased to present this proposal for a Phase II follow-on effort to our Phase I work on Topic N04-231 “Display and Visualization of Movement Predictions for Ground Vehicles”. The core of the problem to be solved is that of minimizing the area of uncertainty (AOU) for a mobile target that may have moved from its last known location. The methods of attacking the problem are numerous, but up to this point, tend to follow an evolutionary approach to improving on existing product solutions aimed at the military and/or maritime markets. Our approach is revolutionary. It seeks to leverage solutions developed in a seemingly unrelated commercial marketplace, yet one that has emerged as the leader in a wide range of technologies that are directly applicable to this problem space – the computer gaming industry. Furthermore, our work will tap into research being performed by the MOVES Institute, part of the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) - widely considered to be the leading group involved with adapting gaming technology to solve DoD problems.
