Research abstract

Ferro Solutions proposes to designe, build and test a prototype energy harvester that is suited to the high-centrifugal force environment of a ship propeller. The focus of the Phase II effort will be on the development of two novel energy harvesters, the centraxial vibration energy harvester (CVEH) and the rotational energy harvester (REH), that can generate power sufficient for two possible tasks: 1) wireless health monitoring systems for rotating machines and 2) active systems that enhance propeller performance.
