Research abstract

Based on the developments and results in the phase I of this project, models and tool will be developed for simulation, synthesis, and optimization of rad-hard-by-design analog and mixed-signal circuits. A unique simulation technology and parameterized models, demonstrated in phase 1 of the project, will be completed and combined with design automation tools to generate simulation, optimization, and synthesis capability for radhard circuits and layout. The key innovation of the project is in the hierarchical formulation of the substrate, device, and circuit modeling for radiation hardness and implementation of supporting extraction capabilities, which allow for an automated optimization of circuit and layout. In a sub-contract to the project, a general simulation framework, AIRFRAME, will be developed, which supports a hybrid circuit and physics simulation (electro-magnetics simulation, TCAD, and circuit simulation).
