Research abstract

Effective communication is crucial for public safety agencies during emergencies. However, the current landscape is fragmented, leading to significant challenges in coordination among first responders during critical incidents. The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) was developed to enhance communication during emergencies by building a high-speed, nationwide broadband network dedicated solely to first responders. The system provides a framework to advance public safety communications technologies by accelerating their development. Inhance has developed a Mass Casualty and Triage software platform called Virtual Safety and Logistics Platform (VSLP) and seeks to validate its compatibility and interoperability with FirstNet. VLSP fully digitalizes the triage procedure utilizing state-of-the-art Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) biosensors and tracking hardware to create a system capable of tagging, transmitting, and recording HIPAA-compliant patient biometric data throughout the triage process. Inhance aims to commercially release the solution to provide patient triage for enhanced public safety and disaster response across the United States by operating within the FirstNet network. The approach will provide first responders with real-time, accurate, and accessible patient triage status, triage data, and location within the FirstNet Network, enabling critical decisions to be made in high-stakes mass casualty situations that can help save lives.
