Research abstract

This Phase II proposal addresses the design, development, fabrication and test of a wideband body worn antenna for threat warning and Direction Finding. This effort will build on Phase I results and tailor/optimize the antenna’s performance for the DF environment, by building a detailed electromagnetic computer model of the antenna. The performance of the antenna will be demonstrated at the program completion in conjunction with a suite of Government Furnished body worn equipment via a Limited Objective Evaluation at the contractor’s facility. The GFP equipment suite will consist of: a body worn computer, a DRS9144 dual channel nanoceptor, and a software control and display suite and wireless wrist mounted display developed under other SOCOM SBIRs. MegaWave and its team will customize a DF algorithm to operate with the GFP software suite. A DF calibration will be conducted on the antenna and its DF performance characterized initially on a range with known emitters at frequencies between 30MHz and 3GHz, then on more challenging paths in treed and urban paths.
