Research abstract
RCI's embedded tube cooled CMC technologies will form a critical design element in reducing Mach 6 to Mach 7 hydrocarbon fueled scramjet thermal management challenges. Higher hot face temperatures, innovative heat rejection system designs will all be used to minimize fuel cooling load and extend weapon system range. The planned Phase I scope will analyze and optimize thermal management concepts and select at least one approach for development into a direct connect scramjet test article proof of concept complete with detailed thermo-structural design and analysis results. This will allow RCI to move to fabrication and early test in Phase II and accelerate the acceptance of these advanced composite based scramjet flowpath designs in advanced scram engine development.
