Research abstract

The Marine Corps has indicated a need for a new technology that could form the basis of non-lethal and non-destructive weapons. The purpose of these weapons would be to render an adversary either incapable or unwilling to resist installation of captive restraints. This incapacitation must last for a period of time needed to subdue the individual and by means of restraint installation preclude any further hostile action. This requirement dictates that when the weapon is used to subdue an enemy, no permanent damage of any kind to the target will be tolerated. In addition, the requirement states that the weapon must be able to attack targets through walls without damage to the walls or to the target. Invocon, Inc. has completed a Phase 1 and a Phase 1 Option. The EPIC concept was refined and documented as were the anticipated effects on human targets. Research was completed that defined the human physiology that was to be the specific target of the EPIC stimulus as well as estimations of the radiated energies needed to create the desired non-destructive effects. The Phase 2 proposal seeks to verify the initial concept definition and provide unassailable evidence of "cause and effect" of the EPIC stimulus on living animal tissue that sufficiently replicates human anatomy. Further, it seeks to prove that the effects of the EPIC stimulus can be endured by the target with complete assurance that no permanent damage will result.
