Research abstract

A high performance composite gimbal development and demonstration is proposed. This effort will build upon the successful Phase I demonstration of a 3-axis lightweight composite gimbal with precision stabilization and pointing capabilities. Key technology advances include higher overall stiffness through composite fabrication and bearing improvements, an upgraded sensing and processing architecture, and an extension of Gimbal Adaptive Disturbance Rejection (GADR) control capabilities.
