Research abstract

TCD, Inc has developed a unique three (3) piece panel design which is a huge advantages for the next generation wall design as it allowed the following new design changes and process advantages such as: A. Panel weight could be lowered as shear strength is provided by steel members. B. Panel materials could be more elastic in nature significantly increasing panel impact tolerance. C. Adhesive bonding difficulties between PP/Glass frame and Wall sections are completely eliminated as walls are bolted to the TCD supplied steel inserted frame. A hexagonal overlapping Thermoplastic panel section was designed around this Steel/Aluminum inserted concept and has the following attributes: • A weight of 2.2 lbs/square foot for a 2.08 inch thick wall section. • Vertical aluminum tubes inserted in wall sections at 22 inch centers to accommodate hardware attachments and designed pull out loads. • Skins that do not carry load and are not critical to shelter rigidity thus allowing great flexibly in choice of skin material composition i.e., damage resistance, FST, UV resistances, cosmetics etc.
