Research abstract
The research and development plan outlined in this proposal is designed to implement the space-based radar scene generation methodologies we have successfully developed and demonstrated in our Phase I work as an efficient, user-friendly software tool for use in the Air Force distributed simulation environment. The specific technical goal of the proposed Phase II effort is to continue to develop and optimize our scene generation technology and to incorporate these methods, along with enhanced geospatial database inputs, into an integrated GUI-driven package that can be used to synthesize variable- fidelity clutter maps for a wide variety of space-based radar systems. It is intended that these flexible methods would ultimately become part of a commercial, multi-spectral scene generation and targeting tool for use in predicting and analyzing multiple sensor scenarios. Using the data extraction, terrain modeling and scene generation software that is the intended product of this work it should be possible to generate realistic, space- based, MTI radar clutter maps for 1 meter to 1 kilometer resolution scenes in the spectral region extending from 100 MHz to 20 GHz.
