Research abstract
The existence of a valid and user-friendly Network Repair Level Analysis (NRLA) model is critical to US Air Force logistics. In Phase I, it was confirmed that the current NRLA model is in dire need of a complete overhaul and the need to develop a new integrated NRLA model was demonstrated. The new integrated NRLA II (tentative title) model must accommodate current technologies, changing equipment acquisition and maintenance philosophies, and preferred user interfaces. The NRLA II software also needs to support the two-way exchange of data with other Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) tools and accommodate the changing environment of DoD acquisitions, especially the trend toward the use of more Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) hardware. Phase II will include the development of a detailed software specification based on the data derived from the comparative analysis, questionnaires, and interviews conducted during Phase I. Based on the detailed specification, NRLA II will be created and tested along with the associated documentation. Phase I activities provided the basis for determining the commercialization possibilities, especially for non-DoD markets. This activity will continue throughout Phase II.
