Research abstract

The broad research objectives of this project are to: · develop a prototype system called MUTATOR (Mutant Generator), based on specification and automated refinement, for the cost effective and assured generation of possibly hundreds of diverse implementations of a software component; · develop a prototype system called WHAM based on runtime adapativity that dynamically adapts a program based upon input-dependent state changes · examine how to curtail the impact of an attack that is based on knowledge of the code layout or performance characteristics of any one implementation; · assess the effectiveness of promising approaches on one or more MUTATOR- and WHAM-based applications.
