Research abstract

To address the Army's challenge of preventing skin infections and reducing odor due to extended wear of their uniforms, and mitigating battlefield wound infection prior to frontline medical care, Triton Systems Inc. is developing a fabric finishing process to durably attach anti-microbial agents to nylon-based textiles. During the Phase I program, Triton demonstrated the feasibility of this technology with anti-microbial agents on a nylon-based fabric. Durability of the anti-microbial attachment and activity over multiple military wash cycles was also demonstrated. During Phase II, Triton will optimize and scale the finishing process for the anti-microbial agent attachment. Articles will be tested according to Army protocols to evaluate the suitability of this technology in a real world environment.
