Research abstract

RHAMM Technologies, LLC has teamed with General Sciences Inc. and proposes to develop predictive computer models to analytically treat the observed lethality enhancements of reactive materials. The team envisions two levels of model development, 1) Engineering level parametric model for quick design trades, and 2) Physics-based high fidelity model for detailed analysis and design. To accomplish these goals, the team will conduct controlled tests of reactive materials using light gas gun and split Hopkinson bar techniques where appropriate. Pressures and temperatures will be observed and correlated with impact velocities and material mass. Equations of state will be formulated and incorporated into the physics-based model. The equations of state will improve upon model(s) that are currently in use or proposed for use in existing hydrocodes such as CTH, LSDYNA, DYNA3D, SHAMRC, AUTODYN, etc.
