Research abstract

The objectives of this proposed effort is the complete the design of the ejector ramjet thrust cell, fabricate full scale test articles and demonstrate the durability of the design in hot fire testing. In addition, it is planned to test the thrust cells in pairs to verify the thrust cells will generate the hypermixing effect during hot firings. The fabrication effort will provide confirmation in the robust nature of the thrust cell design. It has been designed with producibility being a critical feature. If these thrust cells are to be used in future ejectors, ease of fabrication is an important requirement due to the number required in each ejector. Hot fire testing will collect critical data on the durability of the overall design and for the durability of the thrust cell component. The durability of the GRCop-84 combustor liner with the functional gradient ceramic coating will be demonstrated. Performance data for the rectangular canted nozzles will be used to very performance predictions. Finally, the hot fire testing will demonstrate the feasibility of LOX regen cooling in this severe thermal environment.
