Research abstract

During Phase I, MARK Resources demonstrated that it is feasible to improve BMD detection, tracking, and discrimination performance while reducing radar resource requirements through use of our Complex-Image Analysis technology. We showed that our technology allows many discrimination tasks to be accomplished with lower signal-to-noise ratios and significantly reduced dwells relative to traditional processing, and our results strongly indicate that we can discriminate any decoy but a properly deployed realistic shell of a reentry vehicle. During Phase II, we propose to refine and automate the algorithms developed in Phase I and, in cooperation with Boeing Missile Defense Systems, to demonstrate their performance on real radar data and validated simulations. We will establish the capability of the algorithms to work in real time in a high clutter environment and will identify a transition plan to integration into near-term GMD sensors such as GBR-P and TPS-X.
