Research abstract

A new approach to OFDM modulation is proposed employing a constant-envelope technique that eliminates the need to reduce the operational range of the power amplifier. This approach provides the robust and spectrally efficient benefits of OFDM without the degredation in performance from the amplifier output power backoff (OBO). This proposal addresses the need for a cost/benefit analysis of the constant envelope approach versus the standard OFDM waveform and a study of the implementation issues involved in realizing this new approach.
