Research abstract

Commercial communications methods, particularly direct-to-user satellite communications and terrestrial wireless networks, offer hostile forces and terrorist organizations a simple, inexpensive, and reliable means to establish tactical command and control communications links. In this paper, we propose to capitalize on our work in special signal communications intercept to study the prominent commercial services for vulnerabilities, and analyze the present shipboard RF configurations to suggest a series of techniques that could be used for denial, deception, and interception of enemy command and control communications.
