Research abstract

Data Fusion Corporation (DFC) and The Boeing Company propose the development of a Global Positioning System (GPS) Software Radio (GSR) receiver that is resistant to structured interference. The design and architecture will be ideally suited to evaluate advanced GPS applications for the Air Force. The deliverable will be software and algorithms to be used on proof-of-concept, real-time, next-generation, GPS end-to-end receiver. This end-to-end receiver will consist of a hardware front end and the other receiver functions implemented on a Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) and/or Digital Signal Processing (DSP) board. The next-generation GPS receiver is tolerant to structured interference, jamming and spoofing. DFC will leverage its existing Near-Far Resistant (NFR) processing engine, implemented in DSP, to develop this end-to-end receiver. Phase-I: consists of the design, and implementation of MATLAB algorithms and simulations which test novel, sequential and block processing techniques as well as their applicability to real-time implementation on FPGA and DSP hardware for advanced GPS applications. Phase-II will use the results of phase I to develop a proof-of-concept GSR. This proof-of concept system will include: a real-time end-to-end receiver which will consist of a hardware front end and the other receiver functions implemented on a FPGA and/or DSP board.
