Research abstract

The Air Force is committed to providing future warriors with the best tools available to enable collaborative decision-making and mission execution. The Collaborative Enterprise Environment (CEE) is one of the most powerful tools to emerge that enables a dynamic and distributed organization to function collaboratively. SplashNote Systems proposes to develop a portlet builder that would greatly enhance the collaborative capability of the CEE portal, currently implemented as KnowledgeKinetics (K2). The key advantage of the SplashNote system is that it enables interactive portlets to be put together by the average user. Not only does this powerful capability allow the CEE to leverage scarce IT resources, but end users have the capability to quickly and effectively implement interactive applications that are customized to their needs. Phase I indicates that the portlet builder is feasible. Phase II will focus on the full feature development of the builder. The end goal is a functioning prototype that Air Force personnel can install on site for test and evaluation.
