Research abstract

The goal of the proposed program is to develop, build, and test a robust modem for the advanced IFICS. Phase I will address the key technical and programmatic issues that must be resolved to best upgrade the current IFICS modem. Improved communications link performance in the presence of a disturbed signal propagation environment will be obtained using a combination of state-of-the-art error-correction coding technology and non-coherent combining of repeated message blocks.
