Research abstract
This Small Business Innovation Research Phase I project addresses the development of tubular and planar membranes to demonstrate the feasibility of constructing small, lightweight, energy efficient, on-board, in-line fuel deoxygenation systems that will effectively suppress autoxidative coke formation in aircraft fuel systems. Random Technologies recognizes the need for an on-line device to remove dissolved oxygen. This need arises from the well-established fact that dissolved oxygen is the major contributor to thermal decomposition of jet fuels and the resulting coke deposition. This proposal concerns the science and technology necessary to develop planar membranes and arrays of tubular membranes suitable for this application.
