Research abstract

The objective of this effort is to develop algorithms and software to improve the GPS Control Segment ephemeris accuracy delivered to GPS users. GPS is currently being used to support precision engagement activities throughout the Air Force. This includes target location generation, precision navigation and precision guidance of munitions. Under this effort, we will develop an architecture that allows Precision GPS Ephemerides (PGE) data to be provided to the warfighter through a GPS Portal that is scheduled for installation in the GPS Operations Center at Schriever AFB. Implementation of this architecture will allow tactical users access to available precision information through the SIPRNET and their existing tactical data links. This PGE service will provide improved GPS accuracy to key segments of the tactical GPS user community. It will improve the accuracy of targeting data proved by ISR platforms while also improving accuracy of platforms and weapons employing GPS for precision guidance. The technical objectives established for this Phase I SBIR effort are: · Design the architecture for delivery of Zero-Age Ephemeris Data. · Perform a demonstration of PGE data distribution and evaluate accuracy · Develop design for insertion of PGE data into existing GPS User Equipment. · Develop Phase II integration, test and demonstration plan. The Phase I report will include the architectural design, demonstration results, PGE insertion design, the proposed Phase II plan and the system components to be developed and delivered under the Phase II effort in support of the proposed PGE demonstration efforts.
