Research abstract

Timing Solutions proposes the design of a new time recovery system and time distribution system for airborne use. The time recovery system utilizes GPS and dynamic two-way time transfer data to determine the offset of the flight clock with respect to UTC. The time recovery system utilizes TSC's KAS-2 optimal time scale filter to process the measurements and model the noise of the clock and the measurements. The filter operates when one or both of the data sources is not available. The time distribution system will support individual delay compensation for each timing output. Signas will be advanced so that on-board processors receive an on-time signal. An airborne architecture will be developed that combines these two new approaches to airborne time recovery and distribution and critical technologies will be identified for Phase II development.
