Research abstract

This phase I SBIR program will investigate the feasibility of direct manufacturing of nickel base IN 718 diffuser cases using unique metal deposition and machining approaches. A conceptual design and sub-element demonstration will be completed. Value Stream Analysis and process cost modeling will be conducted to confirm the anticipated cost and manufacturing cycle time reductions of 35% and 50%, respectively. A technology roadmap to develop the process to TRL 6 and a commerciallization plan will be completed.
