Research abstract

The objective of this Phase II SBIR is to develop the core capabilities for the Collaborative Alert and Remote Sensor Network (CARSN. CARSN will be a set of Web-based transformational technologies that provides situational awareness to network centric sensor operations and support personnel. More specifically, CARSN will (1) monitor heterogeneous sensors and surveillance systems to detect potential threats; (2) integrate data from those systems under a single Web user interface; (3) follow the responses of events across the SIGINT system and monitors and enables the adjustment of operations through an array of alerts prompted by changes in health and status; (4) autonomously trigger warnings to Naval forces and local first responders; and (5) provide distributed situational awareness and interoperable communications for improved response. In Phase I, we developed the overall architecture for CARSN and defined its role in the Navy's requirements for anti-terrorism technologies. Phase II will focus on the development of the CARSN software, integration of sensors, and integration and test with the large SPAWAR Anti-Terrorism SBIR initiative.
