Research abstract
As the proliferation of IP network technology continues from the desktop through the access network and to the network backbone, it is desired to take advantage of the low cost and general availability of these networks to transport legacy telemetry streams. The objective of this research is to identify the technical requirements to enable the transport of legacy and IP based telemetry streams over IP networks. In a Phase I effort, Terawave demonstrated that TM/IP is a technically feasible and potentially beneficial solution for meeting the data transmission needs of range networks. Phase II will pursue the development of a product implementation that will enable successful transmission and reconstruction of source TM streams in a variety of network configurations, implementing mechanisms to support the required Quality of Service across the IP network. Terawave will also pursue the integration of additional features that will enhance range operations. The first operational enhancement will be to add the ability to reduce the effects of differential delays between TM streams. The second feature addition will be to allow the operator to select the TM source at the network egress for subsequent analysis and archival.
