Research abstract

The conclusions derived from the Phase I research topics and their results indicate that adopting the UDDI model and adapting the combat systems to use the UDDI services will provide sufficient capability benefits to the system architecture to make integration of these complex systems easier and less costly. Using UDDI to match producers and consumers of data with the most optimal transport methods, and to match them automatically, will provide a true "plug and play" infrastructure that will give developers more freedom to focus on the algorithmic problems to be solved and not spend resources developing and integrating infrastructure. The use of an "Information Interoperability" infrastructure will permit the near-term coexistence and interoperability of heterogeneous systems and allow these systems to migrate to a more open, uniform data distribution architecture. This migration will result in a data distribution architecture that is homogeneous, open, and available to all participants, so that this component of system design can be divorced from company business interests.
