Research abstract

A development program is proposed to design, develop. fabricate, and test a 140GHz Imaging System with a range of 1 to 3km for an all-weather landing systems. The system is capable of being integrated into a military airborne platform.Recent advances inIII-V materials, such as InP now enables imaging systems to be developed for high sensitivity all-weather landing systems and an affordable cost. Our innovative conept focus the energy from a scene through a lens to a 5X5 Focal Plane Array that is comprised of stable radiometers. The element spacing for the array is 2.6mm. To obtain optimum performance, a InP low noise amplifer is being used at the input of each receiver. The delta T for the radiometer system is less than 0.06degrees. An advanced signal processing concept is implemented to form the image that is refreshed every 20ms.
