Research abstract

Recent advances in very small aperture terminal (VSAT) satellite broadcast systems may provide the impetus for the development of an automated software distribution system. Through the use of a direct broadcast satellite service, the Navy can deal with the upgrade issue in an efficient manner. The new system can be easy to use and maintain, can support both current and emerging shipboard systems, and will ease the Navy's logistics burden for software and associated documentation.
