Research abstract

LARGE-SCALE SYNTHESIS OF SOME ENERGETIC MATERIALS IS NOT PRACTICAL BECAUSE RATES ARE PROHIBITIVELY SLOW OR DANGEROUSLY HIGH TEMPERATURESMUST BE USED. ULTRASOUND IS KNOWN TO ACCELERATE A VARIETY OF CHEMICAL REACTIONS. IN THE PROPOSED PROGRAM, ULTRASOUND WILL BE USED TO REDUCE REACTION TEMPERATURE IN ULMANN COUPLINGS OF PICRYL CHLORIDE AND TO INCREASE THE RATE OF FLUORIDE ION DISPLACEMENTS IN FLUOROTRINITROMETHANE SYNTHESIS.
