Research abstract

We propose to develop a numerical simulation code based on a theoretical model suitable for the prediction of water waves in shallow water for user-specified bottom topography an incoming far-field wave conditions. The choice of the underlying theoretical model which involves various approximations to the water wave equations depends on the available time and computing resources. A flexible input/output, graphical display of output, an user friendly interface (to be fully implemented in Phase III) is expected to be of significant help to a field commander to analyze conditions for safe amphibious landing, vessel maneuvering and many other applications.
