Research abstract
The development of new innovative multi-spectral target and clutter modeling techniques has a wide range of commercial and military surveillance and intelligence, electronic warfare, and mission planning applications. High fidelity multi-spectral prediction codes such as Xpatch, Xpatch_ES, PRISM and SPIRITS provide significant fidelity improvements over existing modeling and simulation tools. The difficulty has been that these tools have not been integrated into the standard DoD modeling and simulation systems because of the computational complexity of each of these codes. For multi-spectral codes to be useful to the modeling and simulation (M&S) community, the high fidelity packages also require a direct Defense Mapping Agency's (DMA) interface to the digital terrain elevation data (DTED) and digital feature analysis data (DFAD). Another feature not currently supported, is a direct interconnect to the M&S communities' CORBA integration backplane and the Defense Modeling and Simulation Office's systems for real time simulations. All of these issues will be addressed and developed under this Phase I and planned Phase II SBIR.
