Research abstract

THIS PROPOSAL DESCRIBES THE STEPS NECESSARY TO DEVELOP AN ONLINE GAS CHROMATOGRAPHIC SYSTEM CAPABLE OF CONTINUOUS MONITORING OF BOTH VOLATILE AND NON-VOLATILE ORGANIC CONTAMINANTS IN PROCESS COOLING WATER IN A 15 MINUTE CYCLE TIME. PHASE I WORK WOULD CONSIST OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SAMPLING SYSTEM AND COLUMS REQUIRED TO SEPARATE SPECIFIED CONTAMINANTS. LIMITS OF DETECTION, ACCURACY AND PRECISION OF THE ANALYSIS SYSTEM WOULD BE DETERMINED. AN APPROPRIATE ALARM SYSTEM WOULD BE DEVELOPED BASED ON SPECIFIED LIMITS FOR EACH ANALYZED CONTAMINANT. A PHASE I REPORT COMPLETELY DESCRIBING THE RECOMMENDED SYSTEM AND PRESENTING THE RESULTS TO PROVE TO AEDC THAT THE SPECIFIED RESULTS CAN BE OBTAINED WITH THE SYSTEM WOULD BE AVAILABLE WITHIN 18 WEEKS.
