Research abstract

DoD's real-time mission planning, electronic warfare and other modeling and simulation systems generally utilize manual entry of RCS values for the generation for radar simulator displays and system performance analysis. Given the large amounts of measured data available at NAWC/WD,Pt. Mugu, as well as from other DoD and industry test facilties, it would be effective to automate the full utilization of this data in the mssion planning and the DoD modeling and simulation process. The objectives of this Phase I SBIR are to investigate the feasibilityof utilizing this data in mission planning sytems as well as to evaluate the suitability fo this data to represent 4 pi steradian RCS of multiple US flight vehicle variants. In addition, this SBIR will evalute the accuracy and suitability of using scattering centers for the data compres- sion and real-time regeneration of near-field radar data. As an option to this Phase I SBIR, numerical simula- tions will be developed and evaluated for the popuolation of 4 pi steradian radar signature data where there is no available measured data.
