Research abstract

In this effort we propose to investigate various techniques for efficient and rapid CAD design of printed circuit antennas and associated circuit components. While the design of single microstrip patch antenna is relatively well developed, the same can not be said for arrays and antennas mounted on complex structures, especially at high frequencies where the quasi-static models are not accurate and, hence, commercially available tools, e.g. Touchstone cannot be sued for reliable design. One of the important features of the deign tool will be the ability to extract equivalent circuits from the outputs of field solvers. These solvers will be rendered efficient by using various techniques that will speed up the required computation. the availability of equivalent circuits will enable us to employ optimization algorithms in a very efficient manner. User friendly Graphic User Interface will be an integral part of the tool. Phase-I will explore the various tools will also develop or refine them on as-needed basis to render them well-adapted for the present task. Phase-II will integrate these tools to generate the user-friendly ad efficient CAD tool for the design of printed circuit antennas and associated circuits.
