Research abstract

BIO 101 WILL BUILD A PROTOTYPE MACHINE TO AUTOMATICALLY ANALYZE DIDEOXY-CHAIN-TERMINATION DNA POLYMERASE REACTION PRODUCTS SEPARATED ON A SINGLE-LANE POLYACRYLAMIDE GEL. THE MACHINE WILL ANALYZE DIFFERENTIALLY LABELED REACTION PRODUCTS AND PRINT THE SEQUENCE. THE PHASE I PROTOTYPE MACHINE WILL FORM THE BASIS FOR PHASE II, A COMPLETELY AUTOMATED DNA SEQUENCING MACHINE THAT WILL SEQUENCE KILOBASE-LENGTH DNA MOLECULES.
