Research abstract

Advances in dense sensor array EEG, anatomical imaging of head tissues, and mathematical insights iinverse problems have opened the possibility of a breakthrough in analyzing and imaging the brain'sThe barrier to progress is now the lack of a clear criterion measure for when a solution is accurateunderstanding of the distributed, dynamic representation of function in the human cortex, actual EEGprovide a precise test of an analytic solution. We will use the classical physics approach to this pphysical phantom model of the human head, and paralleling this with a flexible mathematical simulatiprototype will test the concept by constructing computer-controlled sources within silicone elastomethe conductivity and geometry of the major tissue compartments of the human head. As a new source lomethod appears in the scientific literature, the anatomically correct physical phantom developed inprovide a simple test of whether it works or not. Coupled with a powerful software simulation, we prPhysical Head Phantom will become an essential tool for advanced laboratories for research and clini
