Research abstract

This work will provide an Object Oriented distributed architecture and implementation using C++ and CORBA for EW simulations. The simulations will be reactive and interactive and will afford a means for incorporation into real-time missions and exercises. The proposed product will drastically reduce the amount of effort required for specifying the behavior of virtual objects, and maintaining a consistent notion of time throughout the simulation. We will provide empty containers so that existing models can be easily integrated into the new time-marching framework. we will support multiple communications modes;and topologies to avoid bottlenecks and allow a gradual degradation of system performance rather than a spontaneous saturation of the system. The proposed work will enable a reactive and interactive capability for EW simulation systems in use by the Navy. The proposed work will also provide a breakthrough in the ease of developing computer generated forces in DIS-like applications, and in the object oriented architecture of time-marching simulations. The product we propose to develop will reduce the costs of writing interactive simulation systems in the DOD, and has significant commercial potential.
